The kdb file extension is nowadays mainly associated with the KeePass, a password management software available for Microsoft Windows, Mac, Linux etc.
The .kdb file from KeePass represents an encrypted passwords database used in first versions of the program. The latest versions use kdbx databases instead.
KeePass databases are typically made up by two things:
- a header (not encrypted) containing various information on how to decrypt the database and information on the database
- the database, in XML and encrypted (normally).
