What is pst file?
A pst file extension is used for storage file format of Microsoft Outlook. PST file contains stored emails, calendars, contacts in one single file.

The pst files are stored in Unicode file format and have a 20 GB limit in Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007 and 50 GB limit in Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013, Outlook 2016. After the limit of PST file is exceeded, Outlook will not able to open PST file and you must split pst files or create new one.
The size of pst files can be customized in the Windows registry.
Unlike the full version of Outlook, free Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail does not use .pst files.
Mac OS X (macOS) users can also use the PST Import Tool for Entourage to import PST data into Entourage.
